Java Architect

SDI Media Group (http://www.sdimedia.com) is the world's leading provider of subtitling and language dubbing services to the entertainment industry. With major operations in Europe, Asia and North America, SDI is the only company of its kind to service major media companies in all regions of the world. SDI is setting up a software development department in Kiev and is looking for talented and creative people.
Responsibilities
• Work with the management team to understand end user and overall business requirements
• Determine the application architecture
• Integrate existing applications and develop new application from the ground up
• Design and provide technical leadership to a team of developers in the creation of a Java based enterprise application
• Develop and implement technical design and code review process to ensure consistency in the utilization of patterns and frameworks as well as future maintainability and extensibility.

Required skills
• 6+ years of software development
• 4+ years of Java (production) development
• Strong programming skills with Java
• Experience with J2EE application servers
• Experience with OOP/OOD
• Experience with clustered applications, pooling, connection management, transactions
• Application security
• Integration with 3rd party tools/systems
• Experience with unit/functional testing
• Experience with Java Web frameworks
• Good understanding of RDBMS concepts
• Experience with ORM (object relational mapping)
• Experience with version control systems
• Good spoken and written English

Additional skills
Successful candidates should possess one or more of the following skills:
• BPM (business process management) systems knowledge
• Flex

Location
SDI Media Group’s development office in Kiev, Ukraine.
